ExhibitsEnvironment › Red Tide

As an artist residing on the Gulf Coast of Florida, the increasingly frequent "red tides" have negatively affected the quality of life, health, and economies of the region. It transforms a tourist and retirement beachfront paradise into a stinky morass of decaying organic matter and dead fish. These seven panels express both my fright and fascination with this natural marine phenomena. Like wildfires, red tides are aggravated by both agricultural and commercial development. For a quick but concise research article on the subject, view this PDF.
